Passing on the Catholic Faith - Catechesis
Mother Kevin led her Sisters in carrying out various services in different sectors in the countries they went to. These sectors included: Passing on the Catholic – Catechesis, Formal Education, Health Services and Social Work
While working among the people, Mother Kevina and her Sisters used it as an opportunity to talk about God. The Servant of God wrote about the rich harvest they were making through their apostolates saying: “The work among the sick is really grand work and very often we are able to get souls through it. It is consoling when the people respond to our talk about God and His love for them.” (Love is the Answer, p. 49). Mother Kevin also made her schools centres of catechetical instructions. The Little Sisters had it as a mandate to teach religion classes to all the children who came to school. These would receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Under her leadership and her exemplary life, crowds of people were gradually converted to the Catholic Faith. Due to her life of holiness, lay men and women who wanted to live a much deeper Gospel life came to her for guidance. She helped these to join the worldwide Third Order of St. Francis for Secular Franciscans. Up to now these are still very vibrant in several parishes doing great work in the area of evangelization. Their motto ‘From Gospel to Life and from Life to Gospel’ has raised saintly men and women both in Uganda and beyond. It all started with Mother Kevin. She was a beacon of spiritual vibrancy, a light for many people and for all walks of life. Through her fearless effort and tireless work, heathen girls and boys, men and women, old and young made their way to the fold of Jesus Christ. A good number she helped became Priests and Religious Brothers and Sisters. It was a thorough turn-about process, from pagans to staunch Christians!

- In the education sector, Mother Kevin’s emphasis was put on the girl child. She believed that in education the girl child she would educate the whole nation, and it was so. Her schools have produced teaches at all levels, medical doctors, nurses, midwives and social workers who touched millions of the citizens in all walks of life. Among the most outstanding educational institutions in Uganda are: Mount St. Mary’s College, Namagunga, St. Therese Girls Primary School, Namagunga, Uganda Martyrs Boys Primary School in Namiryango, and the School for the Blind
- In the Health-care sector, Mother Kevin’s work still stands high in Uganda: St. Francis Hospital Nsambya – Kampala, St. Francis Hospital Naggalama, St. Francis Hospital Buluba – although it has turned into a general hospital, it still holds its place in the country as medical centre where leprosy cases can be referred to.
- In the Social Work sector, outstanding among others are Providence Home Nkokonjeru for the Physically and mentally challenged and the elderly, and the Orphanage in Iganga. Our Sisters in Kenya are doing tremendous work in this sector among refugees and women.
