Pope at Audience remembers Polish martyrs

Pope Leo XIV on Wednesday remembered Polish martyrs Blessed Wincenty Lewoniuk and 12 companions from Pratulin. The martyrs were Byzantine-rite Catholics (Greek Catholics) who were killed by the Tsar’s soldiers in the 19th century because they refused to change their religion, choosing to maintain communion with the Successor of St Peter and remain within the Catholic Church.
